The posters of Ram Gopal Varma’s God, Sex And Truth has created a big stir on social media with its bold scenes and posters. The film which features American adult star, Mia Malkova will be available on the digital space in a while.
However, the Hyderabad police has booked Ram Gopal Varma under section 67
of the Information Technology Act, 2000, for showing obscenity in the film. The
complaint has been filed by a social activist named Devi and a few others.
Ram Gopal Varma was also booked under sections 506 and 509 of Indian Penal
Code for allegedly making personal comments against Devi and others opposing
the movie. He has been charged with insulting the modesty of a woman. The
police said that they would conduct investigations before taking further
action.
Meanwhile, women groups in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam called for banning the film. Also the activists of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), AP Mahila Samakhya and other groups raised slogans against Varma. The association also mentioned that Ramu is releasing the film on web only to avoid certification and the director is promoting pornography.
Ever since the trailer of the film released, Ram Gopal Varma is facing
strong reactions from women activist groups. “I truly believe that there’s no
location on earth which is more beautiful and more monumental than a woman’s
body,” Varma had tweeted alongside a snapshot from “God, Sex and Truth”,
focussing on Malkova’s bare abdomen.
The filmmaker also added that the video is about a “revolutionary sexual
philosophy” as professed by Malkova and encapsulated by him.
